Congraduations...
It just occured to me that I might as well start doing post-show thoughts *here*, rather than elsewhere, we'll see how it works out. Last night we played at a graduation party, and it was one of the strangest experiences I've had as a musician. Due to some unforseen sound issues (it being so windy, we had to have more doors closed than I anticipated, and so the setup we had planned was far too loud), I think I can speak for the whole band in saying that we played the show only being able to hear bass and drums. And somehow, it worked. Especially when you consider we were using a drummer that hasn't played with us much, I think it was an excellent show.
Though I think we did dance a little too close to the edge last night - I'm in awe of the musicianship of the other three just by the fact that we pulled off Still Haven't Found... without any practice (oddly enough, a few people came up to me and mentioned that as a highlight of what they heard). Good Riddance happened the same way, I decided yesterday morning that I wanted to play it... so I did. But it was the scariest three minutes of my musical career - I couldn't remember the chords, couldn't remember the words....I just figured I'd keep going and hope it worked out. And, again, somehow, it did.
Now, a week off, then much rehearsal.
